Cheryl Mayberry McKissack is the CEO & Founder of Nia Enterprises and President & Co-Owner of Black Opal LLC. As a dynamic, inspirational executive Cheryl has a history of stellar success igniting growth by building world-class management teams, leading digital transformations, raising capital from investors and reaching multicultural markets.
Cheryl has served as the leader of several entrepreneurial ventures including Founder and CEO of Nia Enterprises for over 20 years. With Nia Enterprises, she has delivered research and marketing insights on the unique needs of Black women making her an exceptional advisor to Tameka Jones from Lip Esteem. As a former associate adjunct professor of entrepreneurship, she challenged and motivated young entrepreneurs for over a decade in the MBA program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business.
Cheryl’s greatest strength is inspiring teams of professionals and sparking creativity to attain ambitious business goals. In 2019, along with her business partner, Desiree Rogers, she acquired two of the most iconic cosmetics and skin care companies, Black Opal and Fashion Fair dedicated to serving women of color globally. She is also the former CEO of Ebony Media where under her leadership, Ebony Media Operations won acclaim including being awarded Cover of the Week by Adweek.
Cheryl has gained recognition for her proven leadership, receiving the 2021 ODX Outstanding Director Exchange, 2021 Savoy’s Most Influential Black Corporate Director, WomenInc., Most Influential Corporate Board Directors and more. After serving 20 years on the Board of Directors, she was appointed Board Chair at Deluxe.
